If you’re cruising on Liberty of the Seas, lunch is one of the easiest meals to get right once you know what’s open and where to go.
There are several Liberty of the Seas lunch options, including the Windjammer buffet, El Loco Fresh, Sorrento’s Pizzeria, Café Promenade, the main dining room on some days, room service and paid venues like Johnny Rockets and Chops Grille.
One of the biggest changes after the Liberty of the Seas refit is the addition of El Loco Fresh, which gives the ship a much better casual lunch option near the pool deck.
This guide explains what’s included, what costs extra, where to eat lunch on Liberty of the Seas, and which option works best depending on your plans.

What Lunch Is Included on Liberty of the Seas?

There are several included lunch options on Liberty of the Seas.
The Windjammer buffet is included.
El Loco Fresh is included.
Sorrento’s Pizzeria is included.
Café Promenade is included.
The main dining room may be included for lunch or brunch on selected sea days.
Basic drinks such as water, tea, coffee and juice are available in the Windjammer. You’ll also find help-yourself drinks at Café Promenade.
The paid lunch options include Johnny Rockets, Chops Grille, room service items and some speciality dining venues if they open for lunch on your sailing.
Liberty of the Seas Lunch Options at a Glance

The easiest all-round lunch option is the Windjammer.
The best casual pool deck lunch option is El Loco Fresh.
The quickest pizza option is Sorrento’s.
The best light bite option is Café Promenade.
The calmest included lunch, when available, is the main dining room.
The main paid casual lunch option is Johnny Rockets.
The paid speciality lunch option to check for is Chops Grille, especially on embarkation day or sea days.
The best lunch option depends on whether you want choice, speed, table service, something casual, or a quieter meal away from the buffet.
El Loco Fresh on Liberty of the Seas

El Loco Fresh is one of the most useful Liberty of the Seas lunch options, especially after the refit.
It’s located on Deck 11 near Splashaway Bay, so it works well if you’re already by the pool, travelling with children, or don’t want to go inside to the Windjammer.
El Loco Fresh is included in your cruise fare, so there’s no extra charge to eat here.
It’s usually open from around noon until 6:00pm, which makes it useful for lunch, afternoon snacks and those in-between times when the Windjammer has closed.
You’ll usually find Mexican-style casual food, including burritos, fajitas and other quick options. There’s also a salsa station where you can add your own toppings and sauces.
This is one of the best additions to Liberty of the Seas because it gives the ship a proper casual lunch option outside on the pool deck.
It’s especially useful on sea days, warm weather days, or when you want something quick without sitting down for a full buffet meal.
Windjammer Lunch on Liberty of the Seas

The Windjammer is the main buffet restaurant on Liberty of the Seas and is the safest lunch choice if you want the widest selection. It’s located at the aft of Deck 11 and is usually open for lunch from around 11:30am until 3:00pm.
At lunchtime, the Windjammer normally has a large salad section with lettuce, vegetables, cold items, dressings and toppings. This works well if you want something lighter.
There are also hot food stations with different dishes depending on the day. You might find pasta, rice dishes, vegetables, curries, carved meats, fish, chicken, burgers, fries and other hot lunch options. There’s usually a bread section as well, along with desserts, cakes, cookies and fruit. You’ll also find self-service drinks, including water, tea, coffee and juice.
The Windjammer is a good lunch option if you’re travelling with people who all want different things. It’s also useful if you want to choose your own portions or build a plate from several different stations.
Because the Windjammer sits at the back of Deck 11, some of the tables have views over the wake or along the side of the ship. It’s worth walking a little further in before choosing where to sit.
Main Dining Room Lunch on Liberty of the Seas

On sea days, the main dining room may open for lunch or brunch. This is normally in Rembrandt Dining Room on Deck 3.
The important thing to know is that the lunch offering can vary. On some sea days, you may see a proper lunch menu. On other days, it may be a brunch menu instead.
On my sailing, lunch was usually around 12:00pm until 2:00pm. On the brunch day, it was around 11:30am until 1:30pm.
The main dining room is a good option if you want a calmer lunch with table service rather than going to the Windjammer or grabbing food from the Royal Promenade. It’s also useful if you want a proper sit-down meal on a sea day and don’t want to carry a plate around the buffet.
You should always check the Royal Caribbean app once onboard because the main dining room lunch and brunch times can change by day.
Liberty of the Seas Lunch and Brunch Menus PDF
If you want to see what may be served in the main dining room at lunchtime, I’ve added the lunch and brunch menus as a downloadable PDF below.
These menus are useful if you want to compare the main dining room with the Windjammer, or decide whether it’s worth using the dining room for a calmer sea day lunch.
Menus and opening times can vary by sailing, so always check the Royal Caribbean app once you’re onboard.
Sorrento’s Pizzeria for Lunch

Sorrento’s Pizzeria is on Deck 5 in the Royal Promenade. It’s included in your cruise fare and is one of the easiest lunch options onboard if you just want something quick.
Sorrento’s usually opens from around 11:00am and can stay open until late, sometimes around 3:00am, although exact times can vary by sailing. At lunchtime, it’s ideal if you want a slice of pizza rather than a full buffet meal.
It also works well if you’re passing through the Royal Promenade, coming back from an activity, or just want something simple without going up to Deck 11.
Sorrento’s isn’t where I’d go if I wanted the widest lunch choice, but it’s one of the most convenient included options on the ship.
Café Promenade for Lunch and Light Bites

Café Promenade is also on Deck 5 in the Royal Promenade and is open 24 hours a day. For lunch, it’s more of a light bite option than a full meal.
You’ll usually find things like sandwiches, wraps, small snacks, fruit, cakes and pastries, depending on the time of day. It’s useful if you don’t want a full lunch or you just want something small between other plans.
Café Promenade is also handy if the Windjammer has closed or if you want something easy without going up to the buffet. You can buy speciality coffees here, but there are also help-yourself drinks available, including tea, coffee and water.
Johnny Rockets for Lunch

Johnny Rockets is on Deck 12 and is Royal Caribbean’s American-style diner. It serves burgers, fries, onion rings, milkshakes and classic diner-style food. Johnny Rockets is not included in your standard cruise fare, so it costs extra.
On my sailing, Johnny Rockets opened from around noon and stayed open until late, but you should check the Royal Caribbean app for the exact hours on your cruise.
This is a good option if you want something casual and different from the Windjammer, Sorrento’s or El Loco Fresh. It’s especially good if you like diner-style food, but it’s worth remembering that Liberty of the Seas already has several included casual lunch options. So you don’t need Johnny Rockets unless you specifically want that kind of meal.
Chops Grille for Lunch

Chops Grille is Royal Caribbean’s steakhouse and is located on Deck 11, just before you reach the Windjammer. It’s a paid speciality restaurant, but it may open for lunch on embarkation day and sea days.
This can be a quieter way to start your cruise if you want to avoid the first-day rush in the Windjammer. It can also work well on a sea day if you want something that feels more relaxed and more special than the buffet.
Chops Grille lunch costs extra, unless it’s included in a dining package you’ve purchased and the terms apply to that meal.If you’re interested, check availability in the Royal Caribbean app or Cruise Planner for your sailing.
Does Giovanni’s Table Open for Lunch?

Giovanni’s Table may sometimes open for lunch, but I wouldn’t rely on it. On my back-to-back Liberty of the Seas cruise, I was onboard for nine days and Giovanni’s didn’t open for lunch during my sailing.
That doesn’t mean it never opens for lunch, but it does mean you should check your own sailing rather than assuming it’ll be available. If you’re interested in Giovanni’s, check the Royal Caribbean app once onboard.
Room Service for Lunch

Room service is another option if you’d rather eat in your cabin. This can be useful after a long morning ashore, if the buffet feels busy, or if you just want something easy without leaving your room.
Room service can cost extra depending on what you order, so check the menu carefully before assuming it’s included.
It isn’t usually the best value option if you’re happy to go to the Windjammer, El Loco Fresh, Sorrento’s or Café Promenade, but it can be useful in the right situation.
Best Lunch Option on Embarkation Day

Embarkation day is when the Windjammer can feel busiest because lots of passengers head straight there after boarding. If you want the widest choice, the Windjammer is still useful. But if it feels crowded, don’t forget that there may be other options.
Sorrento’s and Café Promenade on Deck 5 can work well for something quicker.
Chops Grille may be open for lunch on embarkation day if you want a paid, quieter start to the cruise and this is what I like to do.
Depending on boarding time, El Loco Fresh may also be useful once it opens. My advice would be not to assume the Windjammer is your only lunch option on embarkation day.
Best Lunch Option on a Sea Day

On a sea day, you’ll usually have the most choice. The Windjammer is the safest option if you want variety. El Loco Fresh is one of the best included options if you’re near the pool deck.
The main dining room may be open for lunch or brunch if you want a calmer sit-down meal. Sorrento’s and Café Promenade are useful if you want something quick while moving around the ship.
If you want something paid and quieter, check whether Chops Grille is open for lunch.
Best Lunch Option After a Morning in Port
If you come back onboard after a morning in port, timing matters.
The Windjammer usually closes after lunch at around 3:00pm, so don’t leave it too late if you want the buffet.
El Loco Fresh is useful because it usually stays open until around 6:00pm. This makes it one of the best included options if you come back onboard mid-afternoon.
Sorrento’s and Café Promenade are also good fallback options because they have longer opening hours.
This is one of the reasons El Loco Fresh is such a useful addition to Liberty of the Seas. It gives you a more filling included option after the main lunch rush.
What’s the Best Lunch on Liberty of the Seas?

The best lunch on Liberty of the Seas depends on what you want from the meal.
For the widest choice, go to the Windjammer.
For a casual included pool deck lunch, go to El Loco Fresh.
For a quick slice of pizza, go to Sorrento’s.
For a light bite, go to Café Promenade.
For a calmer sit-down lunch on a sea day, check whether the main dining room is open.
For a paid diner-style meal, go to Johnny Rockets.
For a quieter speciality lunch, check whether Chops Grille is open.
The best approach is to use different lunch options on different days rather than relying on the same place every time.
