MSC Poesia Breakfast Options and Menus: Where to Eat Onboard

If you’re trying to work out the best MSC Poesia breakfast options before your cruise, there are three main choices: the Villa Pompeiana buffet, La Fontaine main dining room and continental room service.

The more useful question is which option works best for the type of morning you have planned. The buffet is the quickest and most flexible, the main dining room is calmer, and room service is useful when you want breakfast in your cabin or have an early start.

Breakfast on MSC Poesia is fairly straightforward once you know what each option offers. The main thing to understand is that they provide very different experiences. The buffet is practical but can become busy, La Fontaine is more relaxed but the service can be inconsistent, and room service is convenient but limited to continental items.

This MSC Poesia breakfast guide explains where to eat, what each option is really like, what is included and how room service charges work. You can also view the breakfast menus before your cruise using the downloadable PDF below.

Where Can You Eat Breakfast on MSC Poesia?

The three main MSC Poesia breakfast options are the Villa Pompeiana buffet, La Fontaine main dining room and continental room service.

The buffet provides the widest choice and is the easiest option if you want to eat quickly or have an excursion planned. La Fontaine offers table service and a slower start to the day. Room service is the quietest option, but the menu is more limited and whether there is a delivery charge depends on the MSC experience you have booked.

MSC may also offer brunch in La Fontaine on one of the sea days. On my sailing, this replaced the normal lunch service on that day rather than being an additional meal.

The best option depends on whether convenience, choice or a quieter setting matters most to you.

Breakfast in the Villa Pompeiana Buffet

The Villa Pompeiana buffet is the most obvious breakfast option on MSC Poesia and the one most passengers use. It offers the widest choice, including familiar cooked breakfast items such as eggs, bacon, sausages, beans and hash browns. You’ll also usually find pastries, bread, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, pancakes and waffles.

Tea and coffee stations are available around the buffet, so it’s easy to collect your own drinks without waiting for table service.

The main advantage of the buffet is flexibility. You can arrive when it suits you, choose exactly what you want and leave as soon as you’re finished. This makes it the best option if you have an early excursion or don’t want breakfast to take up too much of the morning.

The downside is that it can become busy, particularly on sea days when more passengers are eating at a similar time. When you first walk in, the buffet can look more chaotic than it really is. Food stations and nearby tables fill quickly, but it is often easier to find somewhere to sit if you continue walking through the venue instead of stopping near the entrance.

There was no shortage of seating overall during my cruise. The main challenge was finding a table in the first area rather than a lack of tables across the whole buffet.

The buffet works best when you want choice and convenience. If you want a quiet or more relaxed breakfast, La Fontaine is usually the better option.

Breakfast in La Fontaine Main Dining Room

La Fontaine on Deck 5 is the main sit-down breakfast option on MSC Poesia. You are shown to a table, order from a menu and have everything brought to you. This makes it a much calmer experience than walking around the buffet with a plate and looking for somewhere to sit.

The breakfast menu offers a good range of options, so you are not limited to a very small selection. It works particularly well on a sea day when you don’t need to rush and can allow more time for the meal.

The food itself was good during my cruise. The weakness was the consistency of the service. On some mornings, juice, bread, pastries, tea and coffee were offered without needing to ask. On other mornings, the service felt less organised and I had to ask for some of the basics.

It wasn’t enough to spoil breakfast, but it did make the experience feel less polished than breakfast service I have experienced on Princess or Royal Caribbean. This is worth knowing before you choose La Fontaine. It is calmer than the buffet, but it may not always be quicker.

If you are heading ashore early or need to be somewhere at a specific time, the buffet is safer. If you have a slower morning planned, the main dining room is one of the most comfortable ways to start the day.

Room Service Breakfast on MSC Poesia

Room service is another MSC Poesia breakfast option if you want to eat in your cabin. You order by completing the breakfast card the night before and hanging it outside your cabin door. Your breakfast is then delivered during the time window you have selected.

The menu is continental rather than a full cooked breakfast. Typical options include pastries, bread, jams, cereal, yoghurt, fruit and drinks.

It is important to be realistic about what you are ordering. This is a light breakfast rather than a replacement for the full buffet selection.

Where it works well is on an early excursion morning when you want to eat while getting ready. It can also be a pleasant option if you have a balcony cabin and want a quieter start without going into one of the public dining venues.

The main thing to check is whether a delivery charge applies. If you are travelling on the Bella experience, you pay a delivery fee for room service breakfast. If you have booked the Fantastica experience, the continental breakfast delivery is included. The ordering process is simple, but you should complete the card the night before rather than waiting until the morning.

Room service is unlikely to be the option most passengers use every day, but it is useful to have when convenience matters more than having a large breakfast.

Brunch on MSC Poesia

MSC may offer brunch in La Fontaine on one of the sea days. On my cruise, brunch replaced the normal lunchtime service in the main dining room on that day. This meant passengers could have a later and more relaxed meal rather than attending a separate breakfast and lunch service.

It is a useful option if you want a slow morning and don’t want to rush to breakfast. However, you shouldn’t assume the same schedule will operate every day. On the other sea day during my cruise, lunch ran as normal.

The exact arrangements may also vary between sailings and itineraries, so check the MSC for Me app or the daily programme once you’re onboard. Brunch is best treated as a sea-day alternative rather than one of the regular daily breakfast options.

What Time Is Breakfast on MSC Poesia?

Breakfast times on MSC Poesia can vary depending on whether it is a port day or sea day. The Villa Pompeiana buffet normally provides the widest breakfast window and is likely to be the easiest option if you need to eat early.

La Fontaine operates within a shorter breakfast period, so you need to check the times before heading there.

Room service is delivered during the time selected on your order card, subject to the available delivery windows.

Your daily programme and the MSC for Me app will show the opening times for each venue. It is worth checking the schedule the evening before, particularly if you have an early excursion. I wouldn’t rely on the same times applying every day because the schedule may change depending on the itinerary.

Is Breakfast Included on MSC Poesia?

Breakfast in the Villa Pompeiana buffet and La Fontaine main dining room is included in your cruise fare. This means you can choose between a quick buffet breakfast and a sit-down meal without paying extra.

Room service breakfast is slightly different. The food itself is part of the continental breakfast menu, but Bella passengers normally pay a delivery fee. Fantastica passengers have the delivery included.

You don’t need to spend extra to have a good breakfast on MSC Poesia. The buffet and main dining room provide enough choice for the full cruise. Room service is mainly about convenience rather than getting better or more food.

What Is the Best Breakfast Option on MSC Poesia?

The best MSC Poesia breakfast option depends on your plans for the day. The Villa Pompeiana buffet is best when you want the widest choice or need to eat quickly before going ashore. It can become busy, but walking further through the venue usually makes it easier to find a table.

La Fontaine is the better option when you want a slower breakfast with table service. The food was good, although the service could be inconsistent.

Room service works best for an early start, a quiet morning or breakfast on your balcony. It is limited to continental items and may involve a delivery charge depending on your MSC experience.

On a sea day, the main dining room is usually the calmest option. On a port day, the buffet is often the most practical.
